Or mini drama of whatever you want to call it, is the best Indian TV I've watched so far, and I've only watched snippets of it. The funnily named Life isn't all ha ha hee hee is hilarious, but also portrays 2nd or 3rd generation Indian emigres in the UK and shows how they have integrated into that society, maybe not so much as having many "English" friends, but at least seem to be adopting some of the country's mannerisms, while continuously fighting for and/or against their community's idiosyncrasies.
This soap is fun and hopefully a good harbinger of things to come to Asian TV and cinema.
Of course we Arabs will follow very soon.. say in about 147 years' time.
I've got rockers for kids, or at least they want to regard themselves as rockers, or they simply just get far too wound up into what they're actually watching. That's when I come into my own and piss everyone off by being a complete nuisance!
But the good thing about being a dad, they stop at shouting "SHUT UP", and wouldn't dare take it further than that other than in their minds... and I can read those. Yes, they do. In the weird and at the time fuming boundaries of their minds.
I regard these shows as simple entertainment, nothing more and nothing less. If the show is good I would enjoy it, if it's just crap, there is no force in the world that would get me to shut up. I would just crap all over the show, would never leave, and piss everyone around me - especially my children and lovely wife - completely off. This is what happens with all of those stuuupid rock reality shows which seem to be the flavour of the moment. And the kids just take these kind of shows just too bloody seriously. Which scares the bejeezus out of me! I know, I should calm down, but I guess like every parent I want the best for our children, and "being a rock star" is not something that you would encourage, especially in a place like Bahrain!
I talked to Amna, in one of those rather serious father-daughter discussion times, and she assures me that although she loves music, loves playing her drums, and loves to go to a music school to jam with her instructros, she does realise that what she wants to do in real life is be a psychologist or one of its streams, rather than a professional musician.
Phew! Okay, I'm happy now and am re-assured, somewhat.
But what gets them so wrapped up so completely in a show, is beyond me. And it pisses me off. Well, let me try to justify their enamouration with such a thing... what, I ask myself, gets me so ingrossed in a show that I don't want any distraction?
Ah, I get it now... I promise to behave myself from now on and not mess with their viewing pleasure.
